Rooted in a personal account of Taiwan’s devastating 1999 Jiji earthquake, this non-fiction animated documentary deconstructs a ten-second collapse of human certainty. Utilizing the tactile physics of ink, dust, clay, and joss paper—a ritual material in Taiwanese funerary practices—the film captures the immediate transition from order to chaos. Written on a physical surface destined to disappear, the film uncovers the profound fragility of existence, leaving behind not a reconstruction of catastrophe, but a bleeding trace of what once seemed permanent.
