Synopsis
Aleque and Issay, two 3-year-old twins, move to the bustling city of Beijing with their mum, dad, and little sister. They arrive at an empty apartment on the 26th floor, surrounded by skyscrapers and highways. Sleeping on inflatable beds, they long for the toys they left behind in Sweden. Day by day, they start learning new things — trying local foods, picking up simple Chinese words — and life begins to take shape in this new and unfamiliar world.
It becomes a journey through all of life's small milestones, seen through the children's eyes. The first loose tooth, the frustration when the bicycle won't cooperate, tears that turn into laughter within minutes. A time capsule of the beautiful whirlwind that life can be between the ages of three and seven.
Aleque & Issay is a feel-good documentary told from a child's perspective — seen through the eyes of little sister Tiwa. With a low camera angle, we follow the twins' growth from toddlers to school-aged children, capturing the fleeting, luminous world of early childhood.
