Synopsis
FINDING THE LIGHT was created as part of Moonbeam Literary & Media’s “Kids Create a Deep Sea Cartoon Contest,” a series of kids' storytelling workshops led by author Tracy Blom. From these workshops, 10-year-old Kei Durham from Columbus, Ohio, wrote FINDING THE LIGHT, which was handpicked to be adapted into a complete 2D animated film by animation student Katie Scala, mentored by creative producer Magali McDonald (Sesame Workshop, Encantos).
10-year-old Kei Durham's story is about a grumpy anglerfish who loses his light, and embarks on a journey through the ocean to reclaim it.
This short film is part of Moonbeam's mission is to inspire young storytellers and give mentorship opportunities and filmmaking experience to animation students. By supporting this film, Moonbeam can continue to grow their contest and empower young storytellers and artists everywhere and bring their stories to life.
