Synopsis
A young boy lives in a remote Lithuanian village where time feels suspended. His family are farmers, rooted in simple routines and the rhythm of the land. They rarely travel and the boy spends most of his time in the countryside. Yet, inside their home there’s something extraordinary – several paintings of the sea, painted by his distant aunt. The boy often sits in silence, staring at them and dreaming of one day seeing the sea for himself.
One summer, the distant aunt arrives at their village – wearing a flowing dress, a wide-brimmed hat, and bringing her pampered son. Then, almost casually, she suggests taking the boy to her home near the sea for the holidays. For a boy who’s only seen the sea through paintings, the idea feels unreal and even scary. And when they arrive, he sees the horizon of the sea for the very first time.
