Social Media for a Film Without Burning Out

Pick one or two places. You do not need every platform. Choose where your audience already spends time, and treat anywhere else as optional. A handful of well-made posts is better than six neglected accounts.

Create one account for the film. A film-specific page keeps announcements tidy and lets the whole team share the same handle. Check platform rules and age requirements, and have an adult manage accounts for young team members.

Plan around moments. Rather than posting daily, anchor your content to events: the poster reveal, the trailer, the selection announcement, the screening week, and a thank-you afterward. Fill the gaps with behind-the-scenes photos.

Show the work. Storyboards, costume tests, a shaky first take next to the final shot, and short notes about a challenge solved all draw people in. Audiences enjoy watching a film get made.

Write short captions. Lead with the interesting part, add one clear action such as "watch the trailer," and then stop. Use a small number of relevant hashtags.

Describe your images. Add alt text and caption your videos so more people can enjoy them. Tag and thank. Credit your cast, crew, festival and venue, and ask permission before sharing anyone's photo.

Protect your privacy and your time. Never share home addresses, school names or personal schedules. Set a weekly time limit, schedule posts in one batch, and switch the app off after. Reply with warmth. Answer comments politely, and ignore or report anything unkind. Your page should feel like the film: welcoming.
