Behind the Screen: What Happens Between Submission and Jury
The early work is procedural by design, and that is what makes it fair.
Between the moment a film is submitted and the moment evaluators see it, the work is procedural rather than glamorous: submissions are logged, information is checked, eligibility is confirmed and films are routed to the right review.
Much of this is deliberately consistent. Every submission goes through the same process regardless of who sent it, so that a subjective first impression does not decide a film's fate before it reaches an evaluator.
It is also why the submission form asks specific eligibility questions up front. A film entered in the wrong program or category creates extra work for everyone, and answering correctly at the start avoids delays later.
